We Got Married- part 1: Getting Ready

To view all the photos you will need to click on "older posts" at the bottom of this page. There are 3 blog posts: getting ready, the aisle, and the photoshoot and party. I hope you enjoy.

We had such a fantastic weekend getting married and having our family and friends celebrate with us. We were together for over 8 years by the time we tied the knot but it was worth the wait. We had no nerves at all and were able to truly relax and enjoy the day. Judging by the smiles in every photo it looks like our guests enjoyed themselves too.

I spent most of my adult life believing there was little point to getting married in this day and age. However, the process of planning this wedding and actually getting married gave me a new perspective. Everyone gets married for their own reasons, and marriage can be however you define it. Personally, I'm thrilled I came around and that my husband was brave enough to propose to a woman who professed she didn't believe in marriage.

(If you want to leave any comments, they are entirely welcome- this is my personal blog so I will receive them)

I had a vision with these hanging flowers everywhere. I really wanted a whimsical feel.
Despite my dad saying it looked like it was going to be some "hippy shit", he ended up loving it and so did everyone else.

We chose not to have groomsmen and bridesmaids but, you see what's happening here. I sure do have best friends to help me get ready and say really nice things about me in speeches.

Honey from Merritt, fabric from Africa, and me being punny.

Our travel theme was so fun to work with. I did this map project the morning of the wedding while drinking my coffee.

We made our guest book the same book Shaine used to propose.

Our version of a slide show. In keeping with the theme we put up photos of us in different places around the world. (the3rd one is right after he proposed and the 4th you can see the book)

Look at my handsome husband.

Mimi putting the final touches on her speech that brought me to tears.

When I saw these photos of my brother tying my dad's tie, I immediately wrote our photographer. Melt my heart.

...and this.

When the power goes out, a bride must improvise.

Squish...I love this little girl like she is my very own niece

At least Autumn knows which camera to look at
